Kevin mentioned he would like to see a picture of Hathor. Here is a picture - Hathor is the cow goddess of Egypt and the picture is taken from the temple wall at Memphis, Egypt. She was worshipped as a cow deity from 2,700BC and was the goddess of love, beauty, music and dance.
The milk that flowed from her udders was seen as a way to heaven and she was also held responsible for the annually inundation of the Nile.
The Greeks associated Hathor with their own Aphrodite.

I'm loving it too! Hathor has such a beautiful, serene face.
Almost all the gods in ancient times had their counterparts in the three major civilisations around the mediterranean, the Egyptians, the Greeks and the Romans. Often they maintained some purely local element too,but mostly they were subsumed into the next conqueror's pantheon.
That said I have a feeling that virtually all magic and religion seems to come from ancient Egypt!

Hathor is one of my favourite Egyptian deities too. I particularly like the temple of Hathor Isis at Denderah. Have you visited it?

No I haven't been to Denderah, but I have seen the Temple of Hathor at Philae and that was breathtaking!

Yes it is. We were lucky we saw it during the day and also went to the sound and light.

The trip I went on didn't offer a sound and light show at Philae but I did go to one at Karnak and I have never felt so peaceful in my life - I thought it was fantastic. I never understood people who went on holiday to the same destination year in year out but Egypt - wow - I can't find the words to describe it!
